Laura I directed the Denver Auraria campus ministry since the spring of 2007. It was very exciting to partner with God in the Great Commission. We were able to see many students come to faith in Jesus Christ; some who had never heard the Gospel before, and some who had, but by their own admission had never been born again. We also had the joy of helping establish students in their faith as they came to college as Christians, and needed someone to answer their doubts, and help reinforce their convictions in light of the challenging culture they are immersed in.
We also enjoyed taking many students into the harvest. Many dozens of students have been equipped to be a part of the Great Commission. They learned to share their faith and lead others into a saving relationship with Christ. We also have taken students to 5 different countries on short term trips to be exposed to the unfinished task of the Great Commission.
Recently Master Plan Ministries has been growing in terms of staff and facilities. God has raised up 19 new full time staff members in the last 7 years. God also raised over a million dollars in those last 7 years to enable Master Plan to rebuild the Three Trails Ranch, which was donated to us. All this has lead to a increased need for a lot of internal organization and leadership that had not been needed before. There are needs in IT, Human Resources, Donation Services, Staff Training that we believe God if are unaddressed, will significantly hamper our effectiveness in our mission to "prepare others to reach and influence the world for Christ". In 2013 the Founder and President of Master Plan Ministries, Russ Akins could see the need for help, and asked Laura and I to help with assisting him and serving the staff. This required us to move away from our roles as Campus Staff Directors at Auraria.
I am the President's Assistant and have helped Russ from a distance (Denver to Durango) in developing the infrastructure the ministry has needed to serve the staff and keep them functioning effectively in the mission. But as he gets older and the ministry continues to grow in various ways, there is a need for us to be closer to Russ and Linda. We put our house on the market in Denver and it went under contract in 45 days and the Lord provided a great home 5 minutes from Russ and Linda in Durango.
Laura has been the Master Plan Ministries Women's Coordinator. Her role is to creatively encourage, strengthen, and develop women as well as start up the women's side of the ministry through MissionalWomen.com.
We still serve full time with Master Plan, and our leadership roles are no less significant than what we did on campus for the previous 12 years of full time ministry. We will continue to honor our support team by working diligently to touch the lives of college students for Christ, and will still communicate regularly with our support team regarding how God is blessing the ministry, and we still plan on sharing prayer requests with, and praying for our support team regularly. We can't help carry this ministry into the future taking the gospel to the ends of the earth with a committed team of prayer and financial supporters. We thank God for the tremendous amount of support so many have shown towards our ministry and family so far.
